Once again the stories from Germany are grouped together in one section:
Live to Love in the Black Forest 16th and 17th November 2008
Tara was longing to go to the animals’ home to work there. This time we cleaned two rooms for the cats, but the bigger ones, the smaller ones are still sick.
We could see that some of them suffer because of the small room, although the people there try their best to make it nice for them.
In the afternoon I took a big, lovely dog for a long walk, we both had much fun.
I also was asked by the leader of the home, if I would like to visit the people who have an animal from the home to see whether they have good conditions there. I agreed immediately, I think I would like this new task.

On last L2L Sunday - as usual we went to animal shelter. As we go there one’s a month we know their most important needs, so we try to organise our visit as best as we can. From time to time our families and friends support us in our activities by offering blankets, quilts, towels, etc., which they don’t need any more. Sometimes they give us money, as the donation for animal food.
However, unfortunately, last Sunday only few of us were able to participate, we met in front of a nearby supermarket with bags and rucksacks full of towels, blankets and so on. Having bought, as much as we
could, food for dogs and cats both canned and dry, pasta and rice, we went to the animal shelter. We are quite friendly already with the shelters staff, as they used to our monthly visits and treat us very well.
First of all we distributed the food we brought to dogs and cats and the rest of our time we could spend just among animals. Unfortunately, only very young or old calm dogs take advantage of relative freedom, while others are kept locked, the same with cats - only few old cats can walk freely. Some of the animals are apathetic, some look angry, but some show great interest in our presence. Their eyes, however, remain in many cases very sad, simply what they need mostly is a human protector, somebody
willing to provide them with stable home. During our last visit we met only two young dogs playing happily on the grass during this sunny day.

Continuing our work in the school at Soccma, our main objective is to benefit the children in a sustainable way, and in order to do so we turn to our friends who are specialists in various fields for their advice and assistance with the work we have been doing. Laura Russell has a non-profit organization which has been working with children of remote high Andean communities for seventeen years and she offered to support us with this project. We met on Sunday morning and set off on our trip to Soccma, but 10 minutes after leaving Cusco, we had an accident, colliding with a bus coming in the opposite direction. None of the 8 people traveling to Soccma suffered any injury, but the car was badly damaged. We are constantly meditating on how precious it is to have a human rebirth and many times we forget how fragile it is; having this type of accident reminded us how easily you can lose it. As a consecuence of this incident we had to return to Cusco. Half of us stayed to fix the car damages and the other half took another vehicle to get to Soccma where the children were waiting for us. We could only stay for a short time and play for a while, since we could no longer accomplish what we had planned.

We re-visited the dog pound area on the 26th, October, 2008 in Thimphu. On our last visit we realized that the feed bowls for the dogs in the dog pound area in Meme Lakha was not enough for the dogs. Some dogs which were sick or were small did not get enough food as the bigger ones were stronger and faster to eat all the food in the already existing bowl. A survey was carried out to see which ones would be beneficial and durable for the dogs. After the survey it was decided that wooden trough will be the perfect choice.
Rinchen Namgyal (ADC member) personally worked very hard to arrange the wood and to carve the wood. The ADC members contributed money for the charge of the making the trough, transportation cost and food for feeding the hungry dogs and were very active in arranging the trough in the pound and also by feeding the dogs.

After a positive meeting with some of the London sangha at a café in Paddington station Jigme Pelmo (Sandrine) and I went off in search of London’s homeless to offer them food and hot tea. At Waterloo station we met two young homeless people sitting outside, we offered them both sandwiches, cake and a cup of tea. They were very grateful and obviously hungry.
Later we met another homeless lady at Euston station, she told us about the government’s plan of putting them into hostels where they are given free food and £10 a week (£10 seems an impossibly small amount of money for all the essential items one needs) so we gave her some money as well as sandwiches and cake; she said she was trying to get her own accommodation and to find a job. All the homeless we met seemed to be quite hungry so we were not convinced that they are receiving enough food. One of the homeless we met was clearly on drugs, probably heroine, so giving her money would not necessarily be a good idea, another young guy looked as if he had not been homeless very long and seemed lost and frightened; all of these homeless were in their early twenties.
We will continue to look into other ways that we might be able to help the homeless other than providing food and money.
We are also seeking to expand our live2love activities into life release in and around London.

On Saturday, October 18th it was in the annual sale of old stock day in Paris 14th ward and it is there, in the early hours, that we gave us RDV to install our selling area there. Some boards and trestles were enough for creating a space which would be, for day, the theater of our sales.
We had only not enough time to organize this event but the enthusiasm the mere evocation of the project gave rise to, encouraged us to continue.

Live to Love in the Black Forest
This sunday we have been in our animal home again, Tara and me cleaned 2 rooms for babycats, in one room all the cats have diarrhoe, so cleaning their toilets was quite something. Cause the little ones liked to play very much we had much fun.
After that work we went out for a walk with a dog who was very happy to run and smell everything along the road.
Senge was repairing a dog shelter for the whole morning and has to continue that for the next times. Marion, the lady of the home was happy to see us, cause she was alone today with all the dogs, cats and other animals. The donation of Jigme Dron and Jigme Rigzin from Hamburg gave us the feeling of being united all over Germany and was well appreciated by the staff of the animal home.
We are thinking of extending our Live to Love activity by taking care of an old men or woman in the old peoples home, who has no relatives any more. We will tell you next time, if this is possible.
Lot`s of Love from Jigme Chokyi Senge, Peldron and Tara
